This message is for the attention of Regular Forces Service parents based in England. If your child attends a state school, Academy or Free school in England and has been registered with the school as a Service pupil, the school will be granted a Service Pupil Premium of £300.
The Service Pupil Premium (SPP) is provided by the Department for Education to enable schools to offer additional, mainly pastoral, support during challenging times, which could include anything from a Service parent being away, being injured on active service to bereavement. Funds are paid directly to schools; with Head Teachers and school Governors deciding how the funds are used.
Schools with Service children in Reception to Year 11 classes are eligible to receive SPP, but only if your child’s name appears on the school roll as being a Service child. The annual census takes place on 19 January 2017 and children must be registered with the school before this date. You are encouraged to contact the school and make them aware your child is from a Service family. This information is not shared with other organisations and is protected on the National Pupil database.
For more information on eligibility, please see the links below:
For any other queries regarding Service children contact the Directorate Children and Young People’s educational advisory arm, Children's Education Advisory Service (CEAS) via email: DCYP-CEASemail@example.com or telephone: 01980 618244.

BE YOUR OWN BOSS - WHY NOT?
Calling military spouses, partners and military leavers:
Ever thought about...
- Starting a business – on your own or with friends?
- Earning money from a hobby or creative talent?
- Going self-employed or freelance?
- Resurrecting your career – but with you in charge?
The Salisbury Plain 'super-garrison' area is already home to many soldiers and their families and this is set to increase by several thousand more as Army basing plans take effect. Many choose to settle in the area after leaving the service.
Becoming your own boss is one of the top ten choices for military leavers looking for new careers – and in Wiltshire, The Enterprise Network is supporting forces personnel, and their partners, to do just that.
A series of free Be Your Own Boss coffee morning-style events funded by TEN and run by Wiltshire Business Support Service attracted 60+ military spouses/partners and military leavers. The events were kept informal and welcoming, with free childcare available. They were targeted at people who may have had a spark of a business idea, or wanted to resurrect their career or were thinking about going self-employed.
Although the Be Your Own Boss events have now finished, contact The Enterprise Network now to see how we can help you get your business off the ground: 01264 848311For more information visit

Cobseo, as the Confederation of Service Charities, provides a single point of contact for interaction with Government, including local government and the Devolved Administrations; with the Royal Household; with the Private Sector; and, of course, with other members of the Armed Forces Community. This allows Cobseo members to interact with all interested parties and especially to cooperate and collaborate with others in order to provide the best possible level of support to our beneficiaries.
